Roster of Talent for First Edition of Symphonic Yerevan International Music Festival is Announced

The official lineup of artists who will be taking to the stage during the inaugural edition of the Symphonic Yerevan International Music Festival has been released, with the event, which is being organised by the European Foundation for Support of Culture and the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, in partnership with the Armenian State Philharmonia and Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall, and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, boasting the presence of some of the most distinguished names in the contemporary classical music world. 

With the venues for the festival – the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, Komitas Museum-Institute, and the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall – already having been announced, we now also know the names of the stars who will be performing at these venues, who include pianists Saleem Ashkar (Israel/Palestine), Sona Barseghyan (Armenia), Vanessa Benelli Mosell (Italy), Anahit Dilbaryan (Armenia), Nikita Mndoyants (Russia) and Armine Grigoryan (Armenia); violinists Giovanni Andrea Zanon (Italy), Marc Bouchkov (Belgium) and Nancy Zhou (China/USA); cellists Sevak Avanesyan (Armenia) and Brannon Cho (USA); flautists Gevorg Avetisyan (Armenia) and Noemi Gyori (Hungary); clarinettist Fabrizio Meloni (Italy); guitarist Xuefei Yang (China), and bassoonist ​​Nikolay Poghosyan (Armenia), as well as the celebrated Aram Khachaturian Trio.

In addition, the organisers have also released the name of the Orchestra-in-Residence for this special first edition, as well as of the international conductors who will be leading it throughout the festival. 

The responsibility for handling orchestral duties for the festival’s concerts will be falling to the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, while the individuals who will be tasked with guiding it throughout the festival’s concerts includes the Dutch conductor Daniel Raiskin, Hungarian conductor Gergely Madaras and Armenian conductor Sergey Smbatyan, the Founder, Artistic Director, and Principal Conductor of the ASSO.
