Inaugural Edition of Symphonic Yerevan International Music Festival to Land in August 2022

This coming summer, the European Foundation for Support of Culture (EUFSC), in collaboration with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra (ASSO), shall be launching a new music festival in the Armenian capital of Yerevan, intended to celebrate and promote the beauty of classical music.

Taking place between the 12th and 25th of August, this initiative will mark the second joint project between the EUFSC and the ASSO in Armenia, as it follows on the back of the hugely successful Armenia International Music Festival which has been held annually since 2017 and continues to be organised each year to great acclaim.

However, both Konstantin Ishkhanov, the President of the EUFSC, and Sergey Symbatyan, the Founder, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the ASSO, have noted that the enthusiasm and demand for classical music within Armenia, which have increased exponentially over the past few years, indicate that local audiences are hungry for more where classical music is concerned, which is what has led to this latest endeavour.

A number of venues for the festival have already been announced, with confirmed locations including Yerevan’s famed Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall and the city’s celebrated Komitas Museum-Institute. The final lineup of artists, meanwhile, is still pending, but will be released shortly on this page.

In addition to the EUFSC and ASSO, this first edition of the Symphonic Yerevan International Music Festival is also being supported by the Armenian State Philharmonia and Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall, the Municipality of Yerevan, and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia.
